Pumpline Application
Pumpline is used for drop pipes on jet or submersible type pumps. Pumpline has been used successfully in all types of well systems. Maximum depths shown on table below are conservative. If pumps exceed 1/2 h.p. or depth exceeds 100 feet a torque arrestor should be used.
The graph below lists recommended depths at various shut off pressures. The limiting factor is the total pressure developed in the pipe. This is determined by adding the tank pressure and the head (psi).
| Maximum
Tank Shut-off Pressure |
Maximum Depth Setting | |
| Class 150 | Class 200 | |
| 40 PSI | 275 Feet | 370 Feet |
| 60 PSI | 229 Feet | 323 Feet |
| 80 PSI | 182 Feet | 277 Feet |
| 100 PSI | 136 Feet | 230 Feet |
Pumpline is normally supplied with fittings
attched for on-site joining by threading together by hand using
Teflon tape. Do not use other pipe "dope" unless
approved for ABS plastic materials.
DO NOT USE SOLVENT CEMENT ON THREADS.
Consult pump suppliers for recommendations regarding location of
bleeder tee. It is good practice to lower submersible pumps using
inexpensive polypropylene rope tied to the neck of the pump. This
is left attached to the well seal for use when drawing the pump
for service. Weight of submersible pump should not exceed 100
lbs.
