To ensure a proper solvent weld for long life, the pipe surface at the joint must be cleaned, and prepared with an ABS cleaner. Several brands of solvent cements and cleaners are available. Imperial Pipe Corporation recommends the use of Sluyter Chemical's 66 Y ABS solvent cement and 33 Cleaner for surface preparation.
